Safety Tips for School Driving

The end of summer is approaching, and so is school. That means different patterns of traffic from the last few months, and safe driving becomes even more important. Here are some tips to keep you and your family safe as school begins:

Be Respectful of School Buses

Driving children to and from school is a big job, so it’s important that we do our part to make it easier for bus drivers on the road. Yield for merging buses, keep your distance to allow for any sudden stops, and be aware of children entering and exiting the bus.

Be Aware of School Zones

Typically, school zone speed limits range from 15 to 35 mph. Make sure to follow the speed limit and keep your eyes open for pedestrians and other vehicles. Remember that these speed limits aren’t just for school hours. They are also meant to protect students during after school events, so be sure to follow them at all times.

Wear Your Seatbelt

Whether you’re driving kids to school or you’re a teenager driving yourself to school, seatbelts are of the utmost importance. Make sure everyone in the car is wearing a seatbelt, including yourself.

Enjoy the back to school season! If you have any back to school driving tips of your own, feel free to share them in the comments.
